I only read this book because I found some old documents of my Mother's that had it as required reading for a school grade. I really enjoyed it as it brought back a lot of memories of Mother and how she spoke and how she taught us as children to live our life. Just knowing I read a book that Mother read was very important to me. Times are different now than the days of Mary Marie but we all could learn something from her "diary/novel".Product details

At first this seems like a humorous account of a divorce from a young girl's perspective. (It really is lighthearted! Everyone agrees that her parents never should have married in the first place, and she barely knows her father.). Then it becomes a beautiful love story as her parents fall in love again.
Loved it!
I know the idea of divorce was very different at one time. This book is very detailed in divorce, from the eyes of the child. I did like the plot, and the ending. Or what I thought was the ending. The epilogue irritated me. It was rather preachy, and not what I expected. It disappointed me as well. Staying together, unhappy, for the sake of the children. No.
I read this book about 65 years ago and enjoyed it then. And I wanted to know if it was as I remembered it and it was. I will probably read it again.
This is a very uplifting book. I love books that leave you feeling refreshed and hopeful when you have finished them. I'm glad I didn't read any reviews to spoil the story. If you love a book that makes you feel happy, this is one for you.
This is a good book. I read it once decades ago but couldn't remember the author. I'm glad I found it at . While this is a good book it is mainly about how the life of Mary Marie's parents and their divorce affect her. It is written as a diary from her point of view and readers should remember that during the times this book was written divorce was considered scandalous.
